4.5 Stars - What's the Deal?!?
M. Harris | Los Angeles, CA | 04/30/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"What does this man have to do to get the recognition he deserves?!? Give blood??? I'm mean seriously. Omar is SO unappreciated in the US it's a travesty. It really upsets me because since we haven't really embraced him, we do't get many performances by him in the US, or in LA at least. *big pout*

Anyway, This Is Not a Love Song is yet another great CD by Omar. I own 3 other CDs by him, For Pleasure (my favorite), Best By Far, and Collection. This man is SO awesome and talented, from his wonderful voice, lyrics, and production...whoa, his music will blow your mind! And to say that he plays a most of it, just really impresses me. There are SO many layers to his songs, you'd have to give each one special attention, to hear everything that's going on. And he's consistently crankin' out good music.

I wouldn't even begin to insult him my trying to categorize him...he's a hodge-podge of everything that's good! LOL. My favorite male artist is Prince, but Omar is sneaking up there (I almost feel guilty betraying Prince, lol).

The other thing that sucks about us not embracing Omar, is the rarity of his music out here, and the cost. While this CD was a lil more than I prefer to spend, even on good music, I picked it up and I'm glad I did. Hopefully the price will come down because it is so worthwhile.

Fave tracks:

This Is Not a Love Song (intro & song)

Lullaby

World of You

Never Too Late

Wherever

If cost is an issue, or you're new to Omar and need a starting place, get his "For Pleasure" CD. If you already have it, or are already a fan, then pick this up, although I would wait to see if it's considerably less than $40. I just don't like spending that kind of $$ on one CD.

Otherwise, enjoy and happy listening!"
