"This is what all the modern jazz lovers and new jazz naysayers should be listening to. Don't waste your time with another musty wynton marsalis record. These compositions are tasty to no end, a sonic buffet if you will. If you want name-checks - there is a little Mingus, Coleman, Pastorius, Raymond Chandler, James Baldwin and bill Frisell in all of this. wait, Bill frisell is on this record. and so is julian priester. sweet jesus, check it out."
