CD Reviews

Conclusive collection of Paul with updated arrangements

"Every single track in the album is delicately rendered and the sound quality of the recording is state of the art. I've got a collection of Paul's more than 40, I would rank this album among top 3. I think it would be one of your all time favourite easy listenings."
So far the best single Paul Mauriat CD available @Amazon

"Yes, there are too many Paul Mauriat CDs to choose from, and many of them have overlap in track selections. But, if you only want to own a single Paul Mauriat CD, this is it. Almost every track here is among the best from Paul Mauriat: Love Is Blue, Penelope, El Bimbo, Nocturne, Toccata, Song for Anna, La Reine de Saba, Minuetto, Last Summer Day, Pearl Fishers, etc. Plus, some of those beautiful music pieces (such as Last Summer Day) are not found in many other Paul Mauriat CDs currently available. In fact, this CD is among my top three of all the easy listening instrumental music albums that I have ever listened to."
Not the best..

"If you want the original Paul Mauriat arrangements played faithfully without much (or any - I can't tell if it's a real harpischord being used or a synthesized one) then please go over to Amazon.co.jp and buy the Paul Mauriat Memorial Concert (2009). This concert was to remember the spirit of Paul Mauriat and the orchestra plays ever tune faithfully using original arrangements - no syncopated jazzed up frilly bits added on, this is the real thing - as close to 1960s-1970s Paul Mauriat sounding items you'll hear recited, because they all follow Paul's original arrangements - in fact you could think it was 1967 or 1968 the arrangements are all so good sounding.

Regarding the current album, as a modern-up-to-date synthesized album I guess it's not too bad, all arrangements have been rejigged from the originals with a heavy use of synethsizer. I personally prefer the original arrangements - they're more natural sounding, less sychopated, and represent the "free flowing" beautiful instrumental arrangements of the 1960s-1970s

Up till November, Love is Blue (1987) was my favourite compilation of Mauriat hits, but without a doubt it must now be the Paul Mauriat Memorial Concert Orchestra's performance of Mauriat's original arrangement hits - in fact, this is my favourite Paul Mauriat concert CD - it's ashame Paul wasn't there to conduct it - Maestro Justafre does a brilliant job, I think Maestro Mauriat would be very happy with his efforts if he was looking down from heaven.
