CD Reviews

WOW!What A Pleasant Surprise!
Andre' S Grindle | Bangor,ME. | 06/26/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"You'd think a Passport album of this latter 70's vintage would be soft or weak but none of this is!The "Ataraxia
Suite" (based on the LP's European title)is excellent chill out
fusion while catchy funky stuff like the tital cut,"Mandrake" and
the latin-spiced "Algeria" lend the entire affair a warm, upbeat
air."Reng Ding Dang Dong" and "Loco-Motive" achive much the same
affect with more of an electronic Krautfunk twist while "Secret"
and "Lousianna" once again sunbath by softer shores even as all nine cuts flaunt the savvy and versitility of Dolinger and company's vision.A grand statement by major players."

"The old adage is Germans CANT play Jazz but Passport put that cliche to rest long ago. actually this is some of the most listenable Jazz Fusion ever created and it may be because of the sense of organization and regimen that seems to pervade everything German. This is a great album/CD and a must for anyone who truly appreciates music."
