Synopsis

Album Description
Explicit Version. Los Angeles-based trio One Block Radius, signed to Mercury Records, and they have the 2008 summer-song 'You Got Me'. The single's intuitive mix of old-school R&B dosed with fresh Hip-Hop rhymes and beat-box grooves won savvy Alternative programmers. One Block Radius - Marty and MDA from L.A., and Z-Man from San Francisco - was formed in 2003, when Z-Man took the bait and agreed to roll south to sing and write some tunes with Marty and MDA. After releasing Long Story Short in 2005, they hit the road as opening act for De La Soul, The Pharcyde, Matisyahu, KRS-One, Trick Daddy and others. Since then, OBR's songs have been heard in film and tv projects including American Gun and 50 Pills. In 2006 they also released Cut Some Static. OBR has described their sound as what would happen "if Steve Winwood, Hall & Oates, Earth, Wind and Fire and David Bowie listened to so 12 tracks.

CD Reviews

I CANNOT STOP LISTENING!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I first heard about ONE BLOCK RADIUS when their song, "Black Mercedes" from the first CD, LONG STORY SHORT was the iTunes free single of the week. Three seconds into that song, I said to myself, "These guys are brilliant!" I had no idea who they were, but began to check out all of their music and quickly became a fan.

Marty James, ZMan & MDA beautifully complement one another. It's hard to put one label on their music: R&B, hip hop, alternative, rap, etc: and that's why I love it. OBR sounds like OBR: a brilliant, unique mix from multiple genres. Every time I listen (and I've played this CD more times than I can count), I hear something brand new. No two songs sound alike and they're multi-layered, sprinkled with all kinds of cool stuff. These guys are rising fast -- and their first album, LONG STORY SHORT, is every bit as awesome. I LOVE THIS CD!"
