CD Reviews

Excellent new release!

"The guys have done it again and put out another classic album. They continue to keep cranking out the excellent material.

The title track is really strong as is most of the CD. I enjoyed every song on the CD. The production quality is very high as the group employs some of the best producers in the business.

I was very fortunate to recently have seen The O'Jays in concert and they aren't slowing down soon -- on stage or in the studio. They simply do not put out bad albums and I highly encourage anyone who enjoys classic soul to get this CD."
O'Jaysus!

"Okay, I'll admit it: I'm sometimes a little bit hesitant to buy new O'Jays CDs because I'm afraid I'll be disappointed.

Afraid of having past glories dilluted, of hearing my heroes sound tired and bored. Of hearing the voices that beckoned me to ride the Love Train and climb the Stairway To Heaven sounding more like they were clocking into work on a Monday morning.

Such is the weight of great expectations.

But after several spins, I am thrilled to tell you that 'Imagination' is nothing to be afraid of. The voices that were once described as "striking like lightning" are here in all their churchy, soulful glory--no Viagra needed. And those voices have plenty of fine material to wrap their vocal cords around.

'Imagination' is full of mature ruminations on lost and faded love, sly seductions, and the satisfaction of being a survivor in a business where three years constitutes a "career", and back-to-back platinum albums confers "legend" status.

And on the eve of their overdue induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, what could be more appropriate than to have this proud and talented group stride in on the heels of another powerful album?

Play 'Imagination', and by the time the chorus of "Why You Wanna Settle For Less" hits, you'll be starring in your own karaoke show.

And to Eddie and Walter, my heartfelt thanks and congratulations. Thank you for singing for us all these fine and many years. My best to you both.

Their majestic comeback CD.

"What a nice surprise it is to be able to hear some truly REAL and soulful R&B music at a time when so much "Urban" music sounds dull, lifeless and soulless. No fan of classic R&B should miss out on this CD--it's MORE than guaranteed to please!!! The O'Jays are still making great music and this CD provides ample proof of that."
