CD Reviews

Why you shouldn't pay attention to the "1" reviews.
William A. Gibson | Austin, TX | 10/08/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"It's amazing no one realized that the cheesy stuff in here was made that way *on purpose*. Really, a song about a Vampire called "Sucker For Love" and you can't figure out that they're *trying* to make it cheesy?

I think people are just mad because Nosferatu changed a little bit, and they just wanted to the band to stay exactly the same.

I can't seem figure out why people bash the lyrics (for the not-cheesy songs). I think they're actually quite good. Especially for someone whose first language was not English. Has anyone who's reviewed this album badly ever written poetry in another language? I doubt it. But let me tell you right now, it is extremely difficult to make it flow and sound right. So I applaud their lyricist Louis DeWray.

Strangely enough, no one has commented on how good the guitar work on this album is. So let me tell you right now, it has excellent gothic rock riffs.

My advice is, if you don't like gothic rock, then (common sense here) don't buy the album! If you're new to Noseratu, buy "Lord of the Flies" instead. But if you already know and love Nosferatu, then go ahead and purchase this album; you'll find it to be well worth the price.

Highlights of the album are "Grave Desires" and "Enchanted Tower"."

"Bah, don't listen to whoever tells you this is a bad album. They are wrong! This is my favorite Nosferatu out there (Rise was ok). I highly reccommend it, especially the song Farewell My Little Earth."
Not as good as Lord of the Flies

"...or Rise for that matter, but it's by no means *nearly* as bad as some of these other reviewers believe it is. I realize that at many points, they're being purposely cheesy (as the previous reviewer stated) but it does get a little old at points. I think that's the only downfall of this album. And that's the only reason this isn't as good as Rise or especially Lord of the Flies.

If you're into Goth Rock and don't mind the silliness of songs entitled "Sucker For Love" check this out. If it doesn't tickle your fancy, maybe the other two albums I mentioned will.

If you're not sure if you're into gothy music, look up the compilation album Music From The Succubus Club. That's a very good introduction to a few goth genres."
