CD Reviews

It may well be the best techno CD I own.

"Norken, aka Lee Noris, has produced a beautiful little gem here. First off, I should state that generally I'm not a big fan of techno, as I find the palette of sounds most artists use too limiting. Perhaps I just don't get it. Anyway, this has had such good reviews in the press that I gave it a try, and am glad I did. It may well be the best techno CD I own.Norken's tracks use, tsiks, clicks and powdery beats, with slow keyboard melodies underneath and poppy rhythms on top. This description sounds similar to To Rococo Rot's work (and it is,) but Norken's tunes are less blippy and more soulful. Track 1 "Gone" fits the exact description above. "Painting" has slow keys pushing to the surface before a faster beat kicks in. "Fragile" descends to soft, soothing blippery, continued on track 4. "Echo Ecru" is the only track that doesn't work or fit, as it's basically just noodling with effects over a baseline. "Southern Soul" adds warmer tones and a clap beat, and the rest of the disc ends well.Like I stated, there's only one track I didn't like, and I'm not a techno fan by nature. If you read critic reviews and were thinking about this, you'll be pleased. It's a safe purchase and recommended."

"Since Electronic Music is losing her roots day after day, it's nice to see someone capable of doing a so nice record. All you need is to sit down and chill for this vibe...Thank you very much for this sir....You deserve respect !!"
