CD ReviewsMagnificent Balbastre David Kirk | Upstate, New York USA | 07/08/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "It is unfortunate that so few people have heard the beautiful organ music of Claude Balbastre. And any search on the Internet for his work always comes up short. This album, with its French title, may confuse some potential listeners, but this album is one that you will enjoy again and again. Yes, there's a piece by Bach and one by Zipoli and a lovely work by Daquin --- but it is the magnificence of Balbastre that elevates this album to the top. The beauty of his work is beyond words. Years ago, I managed to purchase a cassette of his work from the Musical Heritage Society - but that was 20 years ago. When I realized that I would not soon be able to play that favored Christmas cassette, I began a long search for a CD and, after many tries, located this wonderful CD. If you enjoy Christmas music and organ music, you will be delighted with this album. I certainly am."
