Although there were 2 singles/videos from their 1st album WAKE YOUR DAUGHTER UP, this is the 1 & only single from No Face's unreleased 2nd album. It's ironic that track 1 & track 6 are listed as the LP versions because the LP never saw the light of day! Why? No Face's 1st album was very light-hearted & fun while the tone & lyrics of NO BROTHAS ALLOWED are much more serious. Maybe the public had a hard time accepting such a dramatic turn from Mark & Shah. That's unfortunate because NO BROTHAS ALLOWED & SMASHIN' FRUIT (the B-side) are both very good. SMASHIN' FRUIT is more of the light-hearted No face we were used to. Another reason I enjoyed this single is that both tracks (produced by S.O.M.F.)feature Shock G from digital underground. Actually, this entire single is very good. The Mike Ross mix is very similar to the LP version except the chorus includes vocals by a female group known as Jazzyfatnastees.So it's not a remix, but just a different mix. The credits indicate that the song GIRLS AND BOYS by Prince is sampled. I truly miss these times. This is when the Golden Era of Hip Hop was still present."
