Synopsis

Album Description
Harold Budd has been a principal figure in the California avant garde since the early ?60s. Music For 3 Pianos, originally released in 1992, is the result of a long-standing friendship with Daniel Lentz and Ruben Garcia. Inspired by Morton Feldman's multi-piano pieces, the trio continues to explore the space between music and silence with these six sketches for piano. Re-mastered and re-packaged.

A Hidden Treasure
S. E. Vogiatzis | Athens, Greece | 04/30/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD came to my attention because of Harold Budd's participation. Already into his previous works, I was searching for ambient gems, inevitably based on the sound of "The Pearl".

Music for 3 pianos was a truly compensating discovery. It is music as music should be: A small apocalypse to the senses. Sometimes I listen to this wonderful composition late at night and I find myself deeply sunk in memories, scenes from the past pass through my eyes. The power of this recording is almost psychoanalytic. It is simply wonderful, and as it happens with every wonderful thing, does not last for long.

Do try this - short in duration - apocalypse!

Ambient Beauty

"A beautiful series of compositions, stripped to their essentials. Haunting and mesmeric, the tracks on this album are much more than 'background music'. On the contrary, they steal the listener away into an imaginary world."
