Synopsis

Album Description
The CD consists of a variety of double bass ensembles from duets to ensembles with as many as 13 tracks. Some of the pieces were originally written for double bass, and others such as Barber?s Adagio for Strings and Villa-Lobos? "Aria" from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 were transcriptions. The piece Notes from Uncommon Ascent was written for me by Connecticut Composer Tom Schuttenhelm specifically for this project.

CD Reviews

Welcome to Bass Ensemble Heaven!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album is really excellent. I admire its wonderful programming of music and superb playing by Mr. Volkan Orhon. Multiplicity is a wonderful addition the bass ensemble repertoire. If you haven't heard David Anderson's work yet (as a bass player) that is reason enough to buy this record. The Bach is my favorite piece on the album. I really like Orhon's interpretation of Barber's Adagio for Strings. If you like bass ensemble music, this is the record for you...if you listen long enough, you may stumble onto the hidden track which also makes this compact disc with the price alone. This CD is the work of one of the world's greatest bass players.
Sit back, listen and enjoy!"
