"Mouse Fire's back with an album that is a little more dancey disco than their last album. Well, actually, A LOT more. It's certainly hard for any band to be completely the same without the original lead singer, and man did these guys change lyrically (blame the new guy) and musically (more diverse!). But you know, it still has that sort of essence about it that made me like Wooden Teeth as much as I did. Don't know what it is. Maybe that guitar. Anyhoo, I for some reason accept this album despite the dramatic differences. Huh. I'm usually very critical of departures from a band's old ways. Don't Mess With A Texan gets the record rolling with a disco sound scape and a catchy as heck chorus. A Silly Boy From Tampa Bay is an instant turn on with it's thumpin' beats and...relevance. I'm a silly boy here in Tampa Bay. I also used to live in Philadelphia, where the girl in the song is from. Bleh. But don't be intimidated by my sayings of change; there's plenty of evidence that it's still Mouse Fire! Songs like The One That Goes Away and Half A World Away could easily be on their debut. More great hits include The Comedy Of and Desert Woman. Shoot, there's not a bad song on here. It isn't a groundbreaking or solid effort, but that's not why you listen to Mouse Fire. You just listen to absorb. It's good stuff. It's an album that plays like an album. Probably not going to get much media attention, but hey, the Mouse is my fire. The major difference between this record and the last is simply that it's more dance worthy! Shell out the cash and get it, suckuh."
