Synopsis

Album Description
The Morning Pages are a young band based in Brooklyn that play what has been described as indie-country-rock. Combining traditional music like folk, country and blues with a decidedly modern indie-rock aesthetic. The band has tapped into a general movement in New York City away from the angular dance-rock style that has been extremely prominent in current new bands. The Morning Pages offer a more organic sound that is becoming increasing popular in major urban centers around the country. Their young city vibe gives them a uniqueness that distinguishes them previous alt-country acts such as Son Volt or The Old 97's. The Company You Keep is their first studio endeavor and was recorded while the band had been together for less than 4 months. The band is joined on "It Makes Me Cry" by The Pierce sisters, who become one of the talked about bands in New York City.

CD Reviews

Really good down to earth songs
Phillip Brown | 08/15/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"That's all there is to say. It's just really good organic rock and roll. There is some great interplay between the guitar, piano and organ. It's all set around some really beautiful songs. I wouldn't call it groundbreaking, but that's not what I was looking for. I just wanted some good music that can go into rotation in the office. I just wish it was longer!"
