CD Reviews

Pleasant time warp

"When I heard that Tesla guitarist Frank Hannon was in this band, I was immediately interested. I heard the catchy unique (for its time) song "Turn It Up" a few times on the radio and knew right away that this would be a different direction for Frankie. While that single, this album, and this band never took off, for sure this was an exceptionally pleasant diversion when it came out. This was a great southern rock album--who knew this was possible in the late 1990s?"You Turn Me On" is an exceptionally catchy, mid-tempo song. "Sweet Southern Sound" has a great melody and pretty mellow sound. "Turn The Page" and "Roll With The Punches" are catchy rockers. "When I Think About It Now" is a nice ballad. "Can't Stop Rockin'" may sound a bit generic, but is, like the rest of the album, a breath of fresh air considering the era it came out of.Considering the vocals, to me this album sounds in spots like a cross between Lynyrd Skynyrd and (get this) Mr. Big, the melodic rock band of the late '80s and '90s. For sure, it is an absolute treat. If you like both southern and melodic rock, chances are you will like this album. Overall rating: 4 3/4 stars."
If you love southern-fried rock you'll love this CD for sure

"Anyone who has listened and appreciated the soulful releases of such great southern bands of the '70's as Lynyrd Skynyrd or the Allman Bros. will love this five star compilation from aruguably one of the best bands applying that same sound and energy today. Brodie Stewart's voice is easily one of the most recognizable in rock today and the lyrics pack a punch that is majorly lacking in rock music today. If you think you have got all the GREAT southern rock CD's or think that southern rock is dead think again, because Moon Dog Mane is carrying the banner with that same rebel pride that others employed before them."
Fantastic!!

"Moon Dog Mane is playing good ol' rock and roll, which I haven't heard much of in recent years. The band's energy and sound reminded me of Lynyrd Skynyrd, except with the addition of some sweet Frankie slides and licks. Check this thing out, and if you get a chance, see this band live!!"
