CD Reviews

The last swansong
soliani francesco | Maerne, VE Italy | 07/01/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I can't believe that nobody wrote a review about this CD. I think this CD by M.C. is their best and unfortunately thier last one (except a live-album). In this CD you can find the sum of M.C. music and the result of all the previous CD, guided by a famous productor (John Fryer = Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, Dead Can Dance ecc...). You can find the M.C. sound in "Nil Nil" and in "Inner Station", the great voice by Malka in "Is It So?" and a perfect song like "New Clear Twist". After to have listened this CD rests the curiosity to know what M.C. could have done after. This CD is not so powerful like "Deadly Weapons", but sure it's more painstaking and really good played. Besides in this CD is contained a EP with the song by Led Zeppelin "Immigrant Song": I think that Minimal Compact version is quite best of the original. Listen to believe! It's a pity that it's really difficult to find this CD (like the other good CD "Raging Soul")."
Underground alternative at its best...
Richard | Durban, South Africa | 09/09/2003

"Well, I think it's my duty to say that Minimal Compact is one of the most under-rated bands of the 80s. It is impossible to compare their albums and select a best, every single one is a journey through your soul...with great lyrics...great variations...and...the accent just adds to the eastern flavour. Even here is South Africa, Minimal Compact ruled the dancefloors at the alternative clubs. If you do decide to explore this band, look out for their upcoming 'best of' triple CD, which will include a best of CD, a rarities CD, and a remixed CD (selected by the highly regarded DJ Morpheus of Freezone fame)...and note that Morpheus is Samy Birnbach, MCs frontman. Then work your way back through the albums from latest release to earliest...you won't look back!"
Israel's favorite sons

"the above cd represents the end of an all to short carrer that every right-minded israeli should be proud of. some of it's most talented musicians formed a quality english language group that met with moderate financial and, in my opinion, major artistic success. this is truly one of their best albums, though it's hard to say, as most of them are cool (if you can overlook the israeli accent). if quality 80's underground is your thing, buy this cd, and if you were wondering, the principal members of m.c. are still active in israel, and putting out great material (albeit in hebrew)."
