Synopsis

Product Description
Milton is a singer songwriter known for his hummable melodies, spot on lyrics, tight, groovy band and soulful, energetic live shows. This brand new self-titled CD keeps the promise made by his debut. Milton's hip musical perspective and smart songwriting blends shades of Beck and Van Morrison without sounding like anyone but himself. He offers a sound at once upbeat and relaxed with a pared-down raw groove. This is one of those albums that you will find yourself listening to again and again. It is his voice-- a smoky, husky baritone that resonates with honest yet poetic lyrics which makes this record so alluring. A breath of fresh air for fans of songwriters, Milton s confident, lyrical and accessible songs matched with the band's dynamic groove make this a sexy, soulful, and just plain unforgettable album.

CD Reviews

Classic, timeless songwriting
Frances Botsford | boston, ma | 01/10/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Milton is one of those rare finds... a great songwriter, uplifting singer, and inspiring band leader, and this cd captures it all. Milton's voice is subtle and smoky, weaving in and out of the piano on "Club Life" and "Her Place Uptown", but then comes in strong and rhythmic on "St. Anne's Parade" and "Smile Again".

While "In the City" is a fantastic ballad to New York City and the band's most well-known song, the entire album quietly catches you and pulls you back in until you find yourself humming and singing down the street.

An essential cd from a great band!!"

"I am the director of a fine arts center in Virginia Beach and after hearing Milton's cd I invited the band down to play. They have now played two shows in our venue and everyone had a fabulous time. Milton has a vast knowledge of music and if you know anything about the musical greats of the past you should add this cd to your collection. No one left the Milton show with a frown on their face. I really hope his music takes off because he is a class act worth the price of admission."
Seeing and Hearing MILTON

"Over the past several years in New York, I've watched Milton grow from a heartfelt singer-songwriter to a confident, commanding and multi-layered band. Milton can wax wise, tender, sad and funny... sometimes all in the same song. Even if this album can't quite capture their energy on stage (that would be impossible), it's still a keeper -- full of hummable, memorable words and melodies. And when you get to see Milton live, you'll know all the words to sing along."
