CD Reviews

Home Town Music
Andy Hurlbut | Phoenix, Arizona | 06/14/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Mike Breen's songs are wonderful scenes of real life, touching and powerful, as in Great Wall of China. After listening to this CD I felt like I knew Mike's family and friends. Juanita's in love is great, so is Harbor Lights. The simple and elegant acoustic music that accompanies the songs is just beautiful. This is a collection that is good for quiet moments and for real listening."
A triple threat!

"Mike Breen is a gifted singer, songwriter, and guitarist and brings a sensitivity and poignancy to his craft. He combines the best of contemporary country influences with the grace and clarity of the currrent folk and acoustic singer/songwriter genre. My personal favorite track is "The Great Wall of China". If you're a fan of James Taylor, Nancy Griffith, Mary Chapin Carpenter or Vince Gill, you're sure to enjoy Breen's debut release, "No Excuses"!"
A breath of fresh air

"The greatest thing about Mike Breen's songwriting, playing, and singing is that they compliment each other so well. Mike's songs seem to be tailored to his playing and singing style and they are always a refreshing sound to hear. It is always nice to hear an artist whos music crosses over styles the way Mike's does. If you listen to the album you will hear many different styles and a diversity that you rarely find anywhere else. Great stuff!"
