"Around 1958 the great cuban sonero Miguelito Cuni was signed by Cuba's "Gema" label to record old time cuban "sones" accompanied by an all-star ensemble of specialists of this genre. Several members of the Conjunto Chappottin were chosen by Miguelito for this "one time deal" recording for "Gema". A repertoire of sones composed by one of Cuba's leading composer's Bienvenido Julian Gutierrez was chosen for the recording sessions. The result was an Lp vinyl, re-issued on CD format during the early 90's which has been selling and selling throughout the world since it first appeared on the international latin music market around 1959. This compilation is considered a historical classic gem of afro-cuban music. "Los Tres Juanes", "El Cielo Tenebroso", "Cobarde No", "El Diablo Tun Tun", "Contradiccion", "Con Amor Todo Se Olvida", "Por la Sen~al","Lo Mismo", "Tu No Lo Creas","Con Voluntad", "Donde Va Chichi" and the smashing bolero-son "Convergencia", the latter, definitely B.J.Gutierrez best composition, which its been said he co-authored with Marcelino Guerra, all make an internationally acclaimed classic. A superb septeto ensemble with great trumpet solos by "Florecita" and chorus featuring sonero Filiberto Hernandez. Definitely Miguelito Cuni's greatest and most popular recordings."
