Call Sparkey & Friends Back 2 Basics a mixed bag of West Indian music. It features a cross section of the various genres, from the sweet groovy sounds of Caught Up to the uptempo beats of Rhythm. It crosses into dancehall one of the genres this artist is well know for. There were a few colaborations on this album, Crazy featured Claudette Peters of Taxik, Best Friends feat ured Sleepy also of Taxik and Dalton Dyer of Tonik on Ah De Vibes. The album brings you the sweet grooves on songs such as Come Back with its, In Your Eyes and heads into a blend of dancehall and reggaeton on Sexy Lady a real upbeat and fast paced song. Then you head into Tribute which reminds you a little of calypso the genre that spawned soca. It pays tribute to Organization of Caribbean States for their staying power in an ever changing region. The album garnered the artist Michael Sparkey Drakes two awards; Best International World CD Album and Best International World Artist in 2007 the year it was released. The reggae numbers on the CD are Holding On, Groovy Feelings, Crazy(dancehall) and Sexy Lady(Danehall/Reggaeton) Sparkey kicks of the album with the first of 4 groovy soca tracks - Caught Up, then Whine, In Your Eyes & Come Back. His Uptempo soca tracks are, Rhythm you need to listen and hear his simulations of the iron on this track. High Up, Jump, Tribute and the ragga soca that he is know for are Ah De Vibes - which won a radio award in California and Best Friends. The album has received three awards to date and some of the songs have been on several music charts.
