CD Reviews

Michaels' Masterpiece!!

"This is the music Michael McDonald was born to sing, break your heart and have you dancing to in one fell swoop. Each song is better than the last.......beginning with I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE which is a solid and sex testament to the Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight odes to heartbreak and righteous loved loss to a sultry DISTANT LOVER to a breathtaking and so sensuous I BELIEVE.......this man is a crooner in the Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, Willie Hutch tradition to a get down, ghetto blasting, toe tapping soul singer following in the hallowed footsteps of Otis Redding and Bobby Womack. SIGNED, SEALED and DELIVERED has any listener with half a soul bumping and grinding and groovin' with the infectious beat. I once told Michael he had the voice of an angel.....he replied with his usual self deprecating smile and heaven sent voice a modest thank you.....I felt like I was either having a heart attack or a hot flash--oh oh showing my age-- when I listened to the sweet and sincere rendition of SINCE I LOST MY BABY and the get down TOO HIGH--Marvin Gaye must be smiling with joy in rhythm and blues heaven tonight knowing that the tradition of the HITSVILLE/MOTOWN family is in good hands with a master of smooth yet passionate, sweet yet erotic and down to the bone love of I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU LOVE ME, the urgency of Ain't NOTHING LIKE THE REAL THING and a totally fresh HOW SWEET IT IS. Thank God for true, real deal and old school talent like Michael McDonald......this man can teach the new school crooners like Brian McKnight a thing or two or three on how to cast a spell over any man or woman in love or looking for love....halleluyah.....get this CD ASAP when in comes out in the US in June of 2003."

"this cd takes michael's vocals to another level. Mike gave alot of integrity to each song to preserve in it's origonal form. But at the same time he gave another signiture twist to it. there have been alot of other artist trying to sing motown but nothing compares to this recording. A must have to any true fan of quality music. Not the typical marketing of image that is in alot of music today example: J Lo,britney,etc....."

"Michael McDonald has proved himself on this song. His own touch just made the song so moving and in many ways better than the original by Marvin Gaye. I have always loved his music from way back with the Doobies. Michael has really out done himself on this entire cd. With the sexy sax, strong bass, his smooth and soft touches of the piano and his raspy yet sexy voice really makes this motown cd his very own. He has proved that he has the voice to sing any type of music and make it a hit...."
