"This is a great CD! Melanie Mitrano's songs hook you immediately--some are fast and upbeat, others are haunting, others are playful and clever. The diversity of musical styles keep things interesting and surprising. The band is always smokin and perfectly complements her powerful soaring vocals. From Immune to Toccata Talk to Me, this is one of the best jazz cds I've heard in a while. If you like jazz and want to hear a fresh new voice give this a listen."

Great Original Vocal Jazz

"It's rare to find a jazz singer who has the guts and skill to write every song on their own album. This disc is impressive and a breath of fresh air. As a lover of vocal jazz, I am weary of listening to the same standards (great though they are) sung again and again. Melanie Mitrano has written 15 new jazz tunes that may become standards in their own time. Her voice is as clear as a bell and the band is tight and soulful. There's a lot of variety here, many different kinds of grooves, and they are all done with credibility. Particularly impressive are Mitrano's lyrics, which cut right to the heart. She has a way of communicating thoughts and feelings that are universal, so her personal stories even feel personal to the listener. This is a terrific disc from an incredibly talented songwriter. I can imagine lots of other singers wanting to do these songs in the future, but doubt anyone will ever sing them as well as they've already been done here."
