A great find!

"Matthias Weckmann is probably best known today to organists and music historians (he was among the most prominant followers and pupils of Heinrich Schutz), and his vocal music is rarely performed or recorded. This exemplary performance by the Purcell Quartet with a group of fine vocal soloists could do a lot to change that. The three "sacred concertos" offered here are full of inventive text setting and striking musical effects, owing not a little to the influence of Monteverdi. Of particular note is the final piece on the recording, "Weine nicht" in which an initial lamentation gives way to one of the most exuberently joyous, protracted "Amen" codas around. The performances are first rate throughout. To my ear, the harpsichord music which bridges the vocal works is not as original, but is expertly performed by Robert Woolley. All around, a great recording of little-known works by a neglected seventeenth century German master."
