Another artist who came and went

"Not all blame goes out these wack radio stations for not playing real music. Sometimes you got to look at the production compnay for not promoting thier artist. AS for Ms. Girault, this happened to be the case. I knew DJ's from overseas who haven't heard of her. I came across this at a friend of a friend's house 2 years ago. Her voice was soul moving and scattered-smothered and covered all over acid jazz tracks. Not every track is a winner, but the ones that are, need to be recognized. I had my original stolen from me (don't ever let friends borrow CD's, no matter how good they look) and I bought another because I needed that voice in my plate of soul food. She doesn't fit the mold of a soul singer, but close your eyes and listen, you'll know this female got plenty of soul. Yo, Not all good music come from the U.S...OPEN YOUR EARS PEOPLE!oNe"
Acid Jazz or RnB ?

"This girl is virtually unknown by the public, and it's a shame ! I discovered her about three years ago, when a friend of mine who had been living in London let me a maxi single CD. He insisted that I returned it to him since it was very precious and that she had not released anything else. Well, here I was surfing and suddenly, BINGO ! she shows up on Amazon catalogue...Now I have it, and for people who want a straight to thew point valuation, you will be committing a sin if you say you are an Acid jazz lover and don't have it min your collection.... Entering in more details, this is actually a fine blend of acid jazz and RnB. True that the limits are sometimes not very clear, but just refer to what people like Incognito or the Brand New Heavies are doing to consider something Acid jazz. And you'll find some of this on this cd, as well as other surprises you will enjoy. For instance "Special" is a very very Jazzy and caressing song. Just enjoy the bass and Martine's voice, and you're almost levitating. "Bring back my love" is the typical mid tempo classy track you could hear in up-scale modern bars and clubs of cities such as London, New york, or Paris. "Been thinking about you" will certainly remind you of Janet Jackson in her Tightrope album. Not bad, don't you think ? "These are the best days" is a super danceable track that reminds me of Patrice Rushen, EWF (Background vocals), Mica Paris, but also Incognito (I can imagine Bluey taking this, making it spin a tiny bit faster, with Maysa on vocals, and you have a worldwide hit). "Don't dog me" is very Prince like. "Revival" and "Love to love you baby" are a modern sexy and penetrating way of singing like Donna Summer. I could go on and describe every track, but I think you now have an idea, and even I compare a lot Martine to other artists, don't think that she is just copyin them. She has her style, a good vocal range, but you inevitably end up classifying by genres and referring to classical artists to describe a new one. Martine Girault is one of those new soul artists from the UK (see also Hil St Soul, Beverley Knight, Lynden David Hall) that deserves a maximum recognition. With a correct promotion, this cd would have hit the charts for sure. But who's fault is it that it's not the case ?"
