CD Reviews

My 8 year old son made me buy this!
C. Gross | 12/13/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"My son loves the first piece, and the whole album. I borrowed the CD from the library and he's actually asked for it for Christmas. He says he likes to think about the knights and castles. It's good quality and authentic (as near as anyone can tell!)."
A Medieval Party Record

"I'm not a big fan of the Martin Best Ensemble--I think most of their recordings represent an obsolete, over-orchestrated, stuffy approach to medieval music. But this CD is very different from their usual style, with spare arrangements, energetic singing and playing, and a selection of material ranging from the serene to the raucous (and omitting the dull). It sounds like they had fun recording it. If you think medieval music has to be slow, boring, and pedantic, this should change your mind."
