CD Reviews

Musical Genius, But Beware...
D. Elston | Houston, TX USA | 07/08/2010
(3 out of 5 stars)

"The tunes on this album are frankly mindblowing. I have been looking for the name of the tune "65.4 Hz" for since Markus' October Global DJ Broadcast World Tour set. The remixed tracks are excellent and musically, this album is nearly flawless.

My reason for giving this album 3-star is to prevent others from making the same mistake that I made, which is assuming that it was mixed. The tracks appeared (by their relatively short lengths) to be in a mixed version, however as soon as I listened to my newly purchased copy, it was much to my disappointment to find that the album stops between tracks. They're not even relatively close to being mixed. In fact it now appears that the tunes are short to the point where I cannot even use them in my own mixes. My issue is that just as I'm starting to lose myself in a track, it winds down to silence...and another begins. This is not the way a Trance album (or dance for that matter) should be, unless of course it's being sold as the FULL length tunes.

To summarize:

If you don't mind gaps between songs, go for it. It's an excellent album.

However, if you are looking for full length tunes for mixing purposes, look for other versions (where available)

And if you're looking for a mixed album, perhaps Cold Harbour will release another version later on that is continuously mixed."
HIS GREATEST ARTIST ALBUM TO DATE

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Markus has produced an album that is an amazing experience I haven't had since I listened to Tiesto's artist album Just Be for the first time. Simply Amazing. His last artist effort Progression was a masterpiece and I will say that Do You Dream shows his skills at a much higher level. All of the tracks have there own unique sound much different than the progressive trance on his mix albums. Very powerful, emotional music. Markus Schulz has been on the rise a lot in the past few years and this artist album shows the experience and maturity he has reached as a DJ and an artist."
Don't be afraid of change; Markus keeps getting better and b

"Like some of us, I was hoping for another disc of new material like his old stuff. I had been reading up on Do You Dream? waaaay before the release, and I was pretty sure there was a possibility that I was going to be disappointed, that Markus was taking a different direction with his new music.

Is it different from his other material? Yes, it is. Is it bad? Nope! Not at all! My only disappointment is that is is not mixed/continuous. It still has the great Markus vibe from beginning to end. Some of the tracks I want to keep going on and on; I'm thinking there will be a remix version later.

Do You Dream? is Markus Schulz at his best. This guy has it all; he can mix, spin, write, produce, you name it. I can't wait (well, obviously I will have to) for his next release. I'll just "Dream" until then!"
