CD Reviews

Wow!

"wow! i am sooo impressed with this release. In 96 when i was in london, i bought mark owen's first solo album, "green man" out of curiousity, but i wasn't impressed. As an American, i didn't experience the Take That phenomenom that the Europeans did, although i did like them. Anyway, this album starts off with one of the catchiest and perfect songs i have heard in ages - "four minute warning". Everything about this song is awesome. the melody the lyrics, everything! Robbie Williams, whom i love, has been trying to break in the USA for years, to no avail, but wouldn't it be funny if Mark Owen did? This cd is really more America friendly than Robbie Williams "escapology", which i thought was a dissapointment. There are many standout tracks on this album. check out "How do you Love", "Alone without you", "Gravity", and "crush" just to name a few. There are so many potential hits here. Think of the perfect pop/rock blend and you get this incredible cd, "in your own time" worth the 30 bucks for sure."
Take THIS, Robbie Williams!

"I was a HUGE Take That fan! Well, I still am, I guess, if they ever make a comeback. This cd is darn expensive, i admit, but it's worth my money. While his ex-bandmate Williams chooses to sing about his huge ego, Owen bares his soul through clever lyrics and catchy tunes. I love every song in this album and I'm really impressed with his ability to write them. His first album, Green Man, was a disappointment, but In Your Own Time deserves to be noticed. This is one of the reasons why Brit music is far better than US."
Quirky British Perfection!

"First off, WOW! Buy it, now! I only came to know Mark Owen through his ex-band mate, Robbie Williams. Like most Americans my age, I responded "Take That, what?" "Robbie who?"..."Mark Owen?" I'm happy to say, from this day forward...I am forever enlighted! Since becoming an ardent admirer of RW and purchasing everything "Robbie" and from there, everything "TT", I think I have finally found my true love: "MO"! The adorable kid has grown up to be an equally quirky yet still adorable man who has an incredible talent of poetry and song. Favorites of this album: Crush (I CAN'T stop replaying in my head!), My Life (soul-depth touching), Alone w/o You, Four Minute Warning, Gravity. Is it pop? Is it rock? Like most music from Britian, it transcends and is somewhat non-conformist. UK music, I believe, is elevated above US music because it has nothing to apologize for and doesn't pander to the negative "hip-hop" culture....the single most distructive element attacking creatativity in American music today, aside from the big business of making music and celebrity itself. On this album, you'll find no glorification of drug-use, prison or gang life, or of crimes in da 'hood (the 'hood of Beverly Hills that is, written and rapped by gun totting, "bling" wearin', Hummer driving, latte drinkin bros), degradation of women, gays or other men. But what you will find is an impressive array of music which reaches the core of your humanity and is just plain fun and does so at the expense of no one. Bravo "MO", can't wait for your next one!"
