CD Reviews

New Age Salsa Flamenco Pop
Robert L. Flenner | 10/16/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This disc has some truly lyrical and dancing stuff. It also has some frankly corny moments. Mostly, it's lots of pleasant listening. It might remind you of Ottmar Liebert, but less introspective. My kids like this (both under 11). It feels like folk music, but with a definite flamenco and/or salsa quality. Olivares makes his guitar sing."
Lovely Latin New-Age music

"I heard this band about three years ago at the Valley Center, CA Art and Music outdoor festival. Everyone was enthralled by the music and we were dancing around and tapping feet to the beat. As soon as it ended I bought the two CDs they had for sale, Wind and Rain and Waterfall. I listen to them frequently and never tire of them.

I see in a previous review that another CD exists. If I can find it, I'll buy it."
Mario is magical

"My wife and i heard him play unexpectedly in San Antonio several years ago. we were sitting at a restaurant called Zuni's and in they came. we did not know what to expect and were blown away by his technique and the talent of his band, Latin Spice. We not only bought this album but also "Suenos de Amor" & "Waterfall". Now, I own over 1200 CD's and have gone to lierally hundreds of concerts, and I want people to know that this is one of my favorite artists. His music is warm, romantic, with real passion and fire underneath. If there was truly any justice in the world, this band would have been onstage by now numerouos times accepting Grammy awards."
