CD Reviews

A Mantovani CD for the Discerning Listener.
Thomas E. DeJulio | Bronxville, NY USA | 02/11/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"There is still only a handful of CD's available which feature the original Mantovani recordings of the 50's, 60's and early 70's. This CD is one of those few. For those who can discern the difference in the orchestra's sound when Mantovani is conducting his own arrangements and when he is not, this CD is for you. In any event, a lot of the tracks on this CD have not yet been re-recorded by today's orchestra bearing Mantovani's name, such as Stranger in Paradise, A Certain Smile, Together, and Ebb Tide. In other words, you won't be able to hear these marvelous lush arrangements on any other CD but this one. We hope more of the original Mantovani recordings like Latin Rendezvous/Ole re-issued just a few months ago will be released to a public yearning for the authentic and brilliant Mantovani touch. In the meantime, those possessing the Mantovani ear should acquire this second volume of Golden Hits which are literally, from the golden era of Mantovani's vast discography."

"I read the little book that came with Mantivani Golden Hits and

I think that I first heard Mantovani in 1955 when his orchestra

played Cara Mia with David Whitfeild singing and I have been fan

of his then on.

anything he played I would buy, all the hits are just fine.

I would ask one question will your company ever have any of David

Whitfeild and Mantovani on a cd I bet you could sell a Million

cd.

I thank you, i'm an old man and the music I got is playing now

as I write again thank you. I'm 79 years old."
