Bonus Live Man!!!!!

"I find it hard to believe that the CD decription or any reviews mentions details about the live CD. I already owned Wino's on CD and previously on LP. I wondered if it would be worth replacing the CD with this new set. It is extremely worth it, to me. Here is the lowdown on the bonus live CD.

The live CD was recorded at the Whiskey a Go Go in Los Angeles on 3/12/74. The concert was mixed on 8/28/74, but never released. One of the interesting things about the show is that they have as a special guest, Jim Horn, on saxophone. According to the liner notes by Deke, Man was very excited that someone introduced him to them right before the show. The performance overall is top rate. It is classic live Man to the max! Jim Horn is turned down in the mix. Most of the time, you cannot hear him playing. He does a solo on a couple of tunes though. Here is the track listing. It is not the entire show, but it is a very nice 70 min of music. The first song is American Mother which was recorded by Malcolm and the group Help Yourself. It is about 14 minutes long with some decent jamming. Next is 7171-551. A nice version, but not as good as Maximum Darkness with John Cip. Next is A Hard Way To Live. What follows is a 17+ minute version of Romain with an 8 minute intro and a jamming outro after what would be the usual ending. A very awesome version. One of the best I have heard. The live CD ends with 19 and a half minute version of Bananas! Extremely well played. Again one of the best versions I have heard.

I am extremely happy with the live CD and will play it many times since I am so familiar with their other released live material. It was worth the price of the 2 CD's just for the live material. Wino's is a great album as well. I got it for less that $17 on amazon. What a deal!

Like Homer Simpson said, "rock music peaked in 1974". I could not agree more, especially when it comes to Man live. If you enjoy Man live, buy this CD!

"I'm somewhat surprised that there are no reviews for this CD. I have no desire to try to dazzle anyone with the usual "special insight" and other BS I see in these reviews, but I really believe if you are a fan of MAN you will like this CD. It has a very nice pyschedelic dreamlike quality to it, which I have never grown tired of since getting the LP in 1975."
