IN THE 60s...PLAYED THE BIG BANDS AGAIN....I WAS ALWAYS INTERESTED IN THE ARRANGEMENTS... These guys have "the sound" all right, and they know how to swing it! One of the first things you notice about the Main Stream Power Band is that they have that full orchestra sound that the finest of the big bands always had. A quick check of the back of the CD shows there are 28 musicians credited here. It's a far cry from most modern big bands, where eight guys are trying to duplicate the Glenn Miller sound. But it's not numbers alone that make the band. The individual members are extremely talented. Heinz Schonberger is one smooth clarinet player! He's also credited with three of the compositions on here. Which brings up another thing that I like about this CD - the songs are fresh. They're not sticking to "In the Mood" and "Take the A-Train." They've branched out and given swinging arrangements to some new music. Highly recommended!"
