"Maia Sharp is one of my favorite artists. She always takes us on a musical adventure. This EP contains 5 new tracks and new versions of 2 previously issued songs, "Red Dress" & the classic "The Apology." While this was intended as a crowd pleaser release for her fans before her next full-length CD is released, it is well worth checking out. "The Edge" was written with Melissa Pierce and boasts the classic Sharp melodic tension as lyrics and notes run wild, "You're on the verge of the words I hoped you'd say & I almost wish that they could stay on the tip of your tongue." As a vocalist, Maia's alto always moves me emotionally as on "I Told You," "In every way but conversation you had an open invitation, your lips were meant for mine." "Standing Out in a Crowd" cuts to the heart for anyone who has felt socially awkward. David Batteau wrote "House of Gold" with Maia, which is an excellent track about the importance of principles, "Never to keep from growing old, but to tell true things like they've never been told." "Whole Flat World" is an excellent breakup track as Maia leaves a stifling lover behind, "The sky & the horizon are not a ceiling and a wall; You can stay here safe and still; I need to take this call." "Eve & the Red Delicious" is an excellent EP, one fans & new listeners will be able to enjoy. Bravo!"
