Every single track of this record is beautifully crafted and phenomenally executed by stellar musicians. No fillers. Not even close. The music is soulful and nuanced. It's eerily wistful and transcendently beautiful all at once. The details in the production are understated and powerful. In Mela's vocal execution there are elements of other powerhouse female singers but the world she inhabits is all her own and it's astoundingly strong and compelling. Magnolia Memoir is the kind of band that feels like they are living and breathing this music with utmost integrity. I have loved previous records of MM but this effort is clearly the product of the evolution of a dedicated and talented group committed to giving their audience music to live to and dream to.
