Joe also throws in his appreciation of trad country with the standard shuffle "Waltz Across Texas" and his duet with Willie Nelson on "You Belong to My Heart," an English-language remake of Agustin Lara's "Solamente una Vez." But Little Joe has always been a serious student of the great Mexican folkloric songwriter José Alfredo Jimenez. "Las Nubes" is simply great. Music reporter Ramiro Burr hit it right on the head when he described Little Joe: "With his big band approach and marvelous knack for recording hard-hitting rancheras, Little Joe rose to the top of Tejano music in the mid '70s, a wild boomtown period considered the genre's first golden age.
