From the opening tenor solo, "Herr, wie lange...," to the concluding choral fugue, I have loved this work for a half-century. The orchestral writing, as one would expect of a Liszt piece, is brilliant throughout. The vocal lines are no less masterful. While this is neither an ideal performance nor an ideal recording, it is good enough to confirm the work's beauty. Listening to it, I always wish Psalm 13 would never end."
