If you need something to pump you up for the upcoming second edition of Sarah McLachlan's all-female touring festival, Lilith Fair: A Celebration of Women in Music is the ticket. This two-disc compilation features 25 live cuts from the inaugural trip. On first spin, it's hard not to notice the range and sheer power of the vocals here. Many of the artists give performances that eclipse their studio work. The most obvious example of this is the opening "Mississippi," where Paula Cole unleashes a voice larger than life. Predictably present is McLachlan's "Building a Mystery," the definitive Lilith song, which began its assault on the air waves at the start of last year's tour and, well, kept building. The house that Sarah built is still growing strong. Lilith Fair: A Celebration of Women in Music is satisfying proof. --Carla DeSantis

Incredible

"for that version of eternal flame on disc one, and the incredible result of combining my 2 favorite artists (mclachlan and Jewel) along with the indigo girls to sing "water is wide," this CD is priceless. You want it, then see if you can pry it from my cold dead fingers or just buy it right now and save some time and energy."
Tasteful compilation of Amazing Female Artists

"Not only is Disc 1 terrific, but Disc 2 meets all expectations as well. Some personally rated highlights are Paula Coles-Mississippi, Abra Moore-Four Leaf Clover, September 67- Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, and Wild Strawberries-I Don't Want to Think About it. What blew me away was the first song on Disc 2 w/ the Indigo Girls, Jewel and Sarah McLachlan--all those beautiful voices sound amazing intertwined. Definitley a CD to buy."
