Just a note to say that this recording is of special note to some of us who appreciate the name of behind-the-scenes pianist/composer Kavin Hoo. His work stands out among the instrumental entries in the Lifescape series, and he has a prolific career far beyond the this label.

Hoo is producer here, according to the liner notes, but it's clear he is the composer here, too. The music is exactly what the photograph on the cover seems to offer: pure solo piano. There is a contempative quality in Hoo's solo piano compositions for Lifescapes and the mood here is quiet, gentle, non-showy, non-trendy -- spacious.

I like Kavin Hoo's music, and it's been nice to think I can spot his influence in various recordings for this label, and elsewhere. Glad I found this one. Very much recommended.
