Finalmente, O Belo Disco por Leon Ware volta em cd..........
Peppino | 01/12/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"........uniu-se em parceria ao grande compositor Marcos Valle! Leon Ware's self-described love of Brasilian musics(particular, the sofisticated harmonies and chord voicings)and Marcos Valle's inclination to keep expanding his musical vocabulary beyond Bossa and well crafted Brasilian "popular" styles made for a wonderful songwriting partnership for a few moments in the early 80's.At last, LW's "RockingYou Eternally" has re-issued on cd. It features 3 of the Ware/ Valle collaborations, including the centerpiece title track- a sexy , beautifully arranged "steppers" groove that should have been a MAJOR hit in the USA, but somehow faded quickly from the limelight."Rocking You...." has been recorded 3 times since, twice by Marcos Valle -an uptempo quasi-disco version titled "O Velhos Surfistas Querendo Vooar"(old surfers wanting to fly!), and a sweet "lovers" version on his "Nova Bossa Nova" cd , called "A Vontade de Rever Voce"(wish to see ya again) cantando em Portugues.Brasilian soul/funk king Ed motta finished off with a beautiful and innovative rendition that actually "updates and modifies" the original Gene Page arrangement on this cd! QUITE A TRIBUTE to Leon and Marcos!"Baby Dont Stop Me" is a light funk groover that is grating at first, but is catchy enough to grow on ya.
"Got to Be Loved" is a loping ballad with a great "hook". (Too bad O Marcos' recording of the tune, called "Bicho no Cio"-animal in heat-, is currently unavaliable, out of print on LP format, IH!)Oi Brasil---Eu gosto muito desta fase do Marcos Valle. Achei que as musicas estao mais bem produzidas--os titulos "Vontade de Rever Voce" e "Tempo da Gente" forem classicos. Relance os grandes discos RAPIDO, faz favor, hehehehehe!Ahhhhhh, as to this cd, the Valle influence is felt throughout even on the tracks that Marcos does not perform on. Only the opening track, the weak disco wanna be "A Little Boogie..." doesnt go anywhere and is a bit of a "dog".Gene Page's arrangements are creative and lush, and LW's vocals always expressively delicious ! E UMA GRAVACAO ECEPCIONAL!"
