Synopsis

Album Description
With "The Escapist" LeeBabySimms explores the correlation between film and music. An almost seamless work that serves to set a semi-conscious mood recalling the mysterious netherworlds of a film-noir dream sequence. The album flows like cinematic montage. When LeeBabySimms? band Imogene broke up after recording their second album, he decided it was time to do something more personal. Tired for the moment of having to rely on other musicians to express himself musically, Simms created an album entirely on his own. The result is "The Escapist". Every note and every sound was created, recorded and performed by Simms himself. Even going so far as to create his own drum loops and samples. From the sonic expression of "Pathos" and the high energy electronica of "Buzz" to the pensive strains of "Green" and "Shhhh"; from the noirish capers of "Khat ", "Lazy & Cruel" and "Down by Law" to the melancholy slide of "12" each song is a mood, a soundtrack to accompany a scenario. "The Escapist" represents a wide array of Simms? stylistic range and influences. Elements of film noir, crime-jazz, avant-guitar, atmospheric-electronica and dub all combine to form an intriguing cocktail of exotic ambience.
