CD Reviews

Look at that gorgeous face...
Lee Presson | Colma (City of the Dead), CA | 07/26/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Not only the best CD LPN has ever recorded (so far), but the best CD that ANYONE has ever recorded. Yes, this is the single greatest piece of recorded music known to man. Not only that, but this CD cures polio and counteracts flesh-eating viruses. It's also perfectly round for ease of use in your CD player. I'm not just saying this because it's my band. It's all completely true."
A caffeinated sonic tonic!

"Aren't there certain things that bring out your dark side? Sure there are! Maybe we can't cover all of them here, but playing Liar's Dice, for instance, causes me to transform from my usual mild demeanor into the ol' Prince of Darkness (I even have a special T-shirt for this sort of thing).OK, I digress somewhat in that Lee Press-on and The Nails have captured the essence of evil manic fun in this romping CD. From the energized opening of Devil Drums forward, this CD rocks and smolders with a hellish blend of swing, jazz, and rock. Even the take on Ghost Riders in the Sky sounds clean and fresh. I especially love Shadowman (my one true friend) and Hat Back Boogie, two cuts that keep looping round my brain. If you are looking for sonically perfect (e.g., later Pink Floyd) or accessible rock (e.g. top 40 corporate fluff), just say no. But if you want to liven up your next gathering by stimulating your friends auditory nerves with a caffeinated sonic tonic, this is your CD!Why not just Enjoy Yourself!"
Hell's House Band

"This is a great CD! I'm usually not too crazy about live albums, but this one works. The band sounds great and they managed to get a quality recording at the Derby. I've had the pleasure of seeing this band live once, and this CD definitely captures their live show as well as any CD can. Lee Press-On and the Nails need more credit as a swing band. After the swing revival faded, many of the bands disappeared. Lee Press-On and the Nails are still a quality outfit. They have to be admired for not doing the same thing as everyone else. If you get the chance, see them live, but buy the CD either way!"
