CD Reviews

IT'S ABOUT TIME!
JEROME DICKERSON SR | LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY United States | 11/07/2000

"FOR A ARTIST OF LAMONT'S TALENTS, IT'S ABOUT TIME THAT A COLLECTION OF HIS MATERIAL WAS PRESENTED. I THINK THAT THIS IS A GREAT TESTAMENT TO A TRUELY UNDERATED SINGER AS WELL AS SONGWRITER. SUCH CLASSICS AS "FISH AIN'T BITTING";"TRYING TO HOLD ON TO MY WOMAN":"GOING BACK TO MY ROOTS" SHOW THE RAW EMOTION OF THIS SUPERSTAR. HE HAS A VOICE THAT GROWS ON YOU. BUT LAMONT ALSO HAS A STORY TO TELL, JUST LISTEN TO THIS CD AND YOU'LL UNDERSTAND. TRUELY A GREAT CD, YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED!!"

"Lamont Dozier is the talent of the 21st century. His songwriting, record production and vocal talent surpasses anyone else in musical history. His personal warmth as a singer shines through in this compilation. Even his new unreleased songs boast of a rate talent of always being on the pulse and ahead of the time. It is obvious to see that Lamont Dozier is "the meat" between the two pieces of bread...when it comes to the songwriting and producing from the old Holland-Dozier-Holland days. Only Lamont continues to show us, the public that he continually hits with the hits! The Hollands have never done anything else. Lamont is a true artist in every sense of the word: songwriter, singer and producer. He's the one who created the Motown Sound. He's the one who changed the world with his music. He's the one they love all over the world. Keep it up Lamont, we love you. You are it!!!!!!"

"Living in the city that produced the Beatles it is apparent that dues are owed. I am sure The Beatles will be first to agree that early Motown influenced their songwriting and musicianship.Lamont Dozier in my opinion is the greatest single lyricist of popular music in my time.He most take some credit for the style and attitude of the early Beatles writing. It is about time that Lamont was awarded an anthology album.A diverse collection from a major talent.Yes some of the tracks have not stood the test of time. But not all will. Who cares? I defy any person whom claims to be a soul fan and not enjoy an emotional orgasm listening to Why Cant We Be Lovers, probably the greatest soul song ever written. As a Brit I would of payed the album price just for that one track.Fortunately I am a massive fan this album is priceless. Keep the Faith"
