"I just received my order - - - more than two weeks after ordering it. This is NOT the Up With People album that I thought I had ordered. For one thing - - this jacket cover was NOT designed for these three songs - - not any of them are the same as the original. I have the original record album, and this, is not even close. The original Up With People that belongs to this record jacket had 15 songs, including Freedom Isn't Free, Which Way American, What Color is God's Skin, etc.

The Up With Peopl on this CD is NOT the same version, nor anywhere near as good. John Wayne, Pat Boone, and Walt Disney did NOT comment on the CD that I received today. They commented on the original. I've been listening to the real album my whole life, and was looking forward to seeing it on CD.

I love the original Up With People album, and was very disappointed that this is not it.

And, I ordered a NEW copy, and I received a USED copy.

Be careful if you think you're ordering the original Up With People. You're not!!! I wil complain to Amazon about this!!!"
One of the best remixes ever

"Lambchop are a musical collective who are the principle proponents of a musical genre that has been dubbed alt.country. They are led by Kurt Wagner, whose dulcet vocals are to be heard on this release."Up With People (Edit)" is a slightly shorter version of the track to be found on the band's "Nixon" album. It's a warped take on a soul tune, with dark, subversive lyrics wrapped in gloomy atmospherics. It features groovy handclaps, a bevy of female vocalists and a trumpet. It's a class tune that never fails to make me smile and is ample evidence of the aforementioned Mr. Wagner's genius. However, "Up With People" is made even more magical by Zero 7 in a remix that features as the second track on this single. Zero 7, as you may recall, were hailed as the new Air and labelled as merchants of all that is chilled and laid-back. Be that as it may, they turn in a sterling remix here, one of the finest remixes ever in my humble opinion. They add a gentle beat, bring the female vocals higher in the mix and add some almost bossa-nova-esque flourishes. The result is an uplifting listening experience that stays true to the original track. This is a great meeting of distinctive and idiosyncratic musical minds."Miss Prissy" is the final track on this single. This is a cover of a Vic Chesnutt (who I believe may also be classified as alt.country and is a fantastic songwriter) song and it sounds far more akin to how you might imagine music called alt.country sounds than "Up With People" does. It's a slow, delicate song that sounds equal parts forlorn and hopeful. Kurt's precise pronunciation and quiet, almost conversational vocal lend themselves well to Chesnutt's almost nursery-rhyme-like lyrics (the phrase "knuckles on a cheese grater" is repeated throughout, to great effect). The other word that I think of on hearing this song is "sparse". Which can only be a good thing.A word must be said about the fabulous, and knowingly kitsch, packaging of this single. John Wayne, Pat Boone and Walt Disney all feature and are quoted on the cover. I highly recommend that you do all you can to get hold of this single, for the Zero 7 remix, if for nothing else. Lambchop are a talented outfit who bring cleverness and a definite aesthetic style to honestly great music and who are willing to experiment. Invest some time in this band and you will be richly rewarded. "Up With People" is a great place to start."
