Synopsis

Album Description
Digitally remastered deluxe two CD edition of the Prog Rock trio's classic live album.. Released in August 1974, Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends...Ladies And Gentlemen, Emerson Lake & Palmer, the triple live album that chronicled ELP's successful 1973/74 world tour made Rock history. It was the first, and only, triple live album by a Rock band to hit the Top 5 and become a platinum seller. Despite its wordy title, the album was designed to be a showcase of the bands raw talent, along with being testament of its blistering live show, which had become the most exciting concert experience of its time, hands down. Although taken from multiple nights that that band performed in February 1974 at the Anaheim Convention Center near Los Angeles, the original triple LP set featured the show the band played on the tour promoting Brain Salad Surgery. Sanctuary.

CD Reviews

BEST SOUNDING VERSION YET!
Vincent G. Marino | Staten Island, New York USA | 09/28/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Ok, I know there have now been like 6 different editions of this live album, and all of them sound horrible. Not this one! The best yet sound quality and super nifty packaging. Someone must have found the King Biscuit Flower Hour recordings as opposed to the masters used for every other issue of this set. You'll love it! Crank it and enjoy, but watch your woofers! Greg's bass is powerful."
A HUGE disappointment - sound quality SUCKS!

"OK, I have this double CD when it came out in the late 90's. The sound then was awful for a professional recording. Honestly, this doesn't even sound like a multi-track recording! I mean, compare this album to the How the West Was One job by Led Zeppelin. The sound quality is like night and day!

This ELP album is truly a sad affair given how extraordinaire the music is. Why doesn't this recording sound like a multi-track recording??? Will someone please ping me and explain??? This sounds like a substandard soundboard, not even multi-track!

The guy who reviewed this ahead of me doesn't have a CLUE as to what a multi-track recording must sound like if he gives this recording and remastering job a thumb's up. Save your money. This so-called "deluxe edition" has NOTHING new on it, no additional tracks, and ZERO improved sound quality. I could not detect any improvement from this recording when compared to the original recording. This recording is supposedly re-mastered by Andy Pearce for Sanctuary Records.

Well, the folks at Sanctuary don't know SQUAT when it comes to remastering! These are not multi-track tapes and it's a substandard soundboard recording. What a shame. I love ELP and I'm sure for millions of fans the world over, this particular series of performances are indeed very special. It's a damn shame that the legacy we have of this concert tour is so poor quality.

I'm extremely disappointed with this so called "Deluxe edition" and I want my money back!"
