CD Reviews

This is definitely the Kursaal Flyers
Gil | Progressive Texas | 08/16/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Finally after decades of searching I have found "Little Does She Know". I heard it once in the late seventies but didn't catch the name of the band. I was impressed with the lame tongue in cheek lyrics contrasted with the professional orchestration not to mention the 1812 overture cannons and the halleluiah chorus. The song could have gone on another 60 seconds. Its one of the best unknown songs in pop and worth the price of the cd by itself. I was unfamiliar with the rest of the songs but wasn't disappointed. The guys can churn out well-crafted songs in old school rock (Hit Records, Yellow Sox, Revolver), country (Ugly Guys), blues (Drinking Socially) even punk/Who (Television Generation). Why a hook like 'Pre-Madonna' never hit the airwaves is a testament that some of the best music is still underground. And if you can't make it with that special someone with 'Tonight Before Tonight', just f'git 'bout it and go on home, she ain't worth it.

Contrary to the previous reviewer, this is definitely the original Kursaal Flyers. Check out their web site bio. They still play gigs. If I'm ever in the area, I'll be in the crowd. Yes indeed."
