"Bohemian composer FRANZ VINZENZ KROMMER (1759-1831) is always a delight. Anyone not familiar with his music should start with his Clarinet Concerto in E flat op 36. Mozartish with that best of Mozartian qualities, originality. The present CD contains sprightly music with a wide range of scoring that allows individual players to come to the fore. The performances are top notch. A good introduction to this composer's "chamber" music--though in fact Krommer intended most of these works to be played out of doors."
