CD Reviews

The best single I've ever bought...
Rick | Melbourne, Australia | 07/27/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I don't usually buy singles. But let me tell you, this is the best $10 I've ever spent on music!

I know the album 'United Paper People' has just been released but get this for, in my opinion, the best song Kisschasy have released so far, "Resolution Wednesday". The guitar build up at the 1:08 mark is rad and you'll find yourself screaming along to the chorus ''Cause I've been waiting years for this, and I'll be waiting here for you!' so quickly. It's just so catchy! I think this song should have been the A Side.

Anyway what really makes this single so good is the overall quality of the 3 other songs besides the title track. 'Doomsday' is a much more toned down Kisschasy and the amount of acoustic shows they play is really evident in this track. When the drums crash in at 1:30 I could swear I'm listening to an old lost Jimmy Eat World track.

Now you know how Saves The Day's cover of Modern English's classic, 'I'll Melt With You' is just spot on and does the original justice? Yeah well Kisschasy have done the same with the Gin Blossoms track 'Hey Jealousy'! Darren's (Kisschasy's front man) voice is perfect for this song. It adds just the right amout of edge and power that gets screaming along to the build up "Do you think it'd be alright, if I could just crash here tonight?!" Oh and I love how Kisschasy kept the mini guitar solo in this song. It's not often that you hear solo's in pop songs that make the song better, not worse.

I'm not going to say anything about 'Do-do's & Whoa-oh's' because you know its amazing and it's on the album so chances are you've heard it by now!

In conclusion, if you're into Kisschasy and are searching for something more, then you must buy this! If you haven't heard of them before and would like to have a taste, then this is the right place to start.
