CD Reviews

In Love with kinnie...

"I first heard Kinnie Starr on the show, The L Word. I fell in love with "Sun Again" and bought the album right away. I had to get it sent from Canada since it wasn't out in the US yet. Once I got it, after listening to "Sun Again" about six times (haha), I listened to the entire CD and LOVED it. A few of the other songs are also featured on The L Word, such as "Alright", which is also on The L Word soundtrack. I'm never NOT in the mood to listen to this CD, its really wonderful. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go buy her others!"
Sweet sounds stain my brain

"I think I heard about Kinnie in the New Yorker. After hearing "Come" "Alright" and "Sun Again" I broke down and bought the album...the first CD I've purchased in a long time, if you know what I mean. The first thing that struck me is that this isn't going to be one of those fast-forward-to-the-few-songs-i-actually-like-on-the-album kinda album. You can be reassured you will hit "play" and let it run through entirely. Kinnie's strung together a bunch of mellow (read: not boring), transient beats, her signature style that seems uncopied in a quite copy-centered industry and the album complements almost any mood. Highlights imho are "come" "soar" and "amazed".

The feel is catchy without being clingy. snap crackle pop-ish. real and palpable.

I truly hope and believe Kinnie will continue to surprise us in years to come and I look forward to any scrumptious bits she throws our way."
