Synopsis

Product Description
KatzKab is electro-punk-cabaret rising from the ashes of the late, much-heralded Parisian band Katzenjammer Kabarett. Somewhere between the B52s, Soft Cell & Lena Lovich, they awaken the dancing skeleton that sleeps within each of us.Female vocals courtesy of the seductive and charismatic Viktor B ride atop their hybrid music and syncopated rhythms, telling tales of alcohol, murder, voodoo and the edges of human nature. They sing tales from seedy local news to Darwin Awards in an absurd euphony.

KatzKab doesn't transcend genres so much as explode them wholesale. Musically, the group mixes cabaret, deathrock, synthpunk, and minimal-synth conventions with cockeyed abandon; post-punk guitar tones, post-Dresden-Dolls vocals and Euro-electro synthesizers all manage to find a place in their sonic palette. Of the many new acts who pick up on the old-school Bat Cave tricks of the past, KatzKab is one of the few that move beyond homage or pastiche. They are not afraid to inject a little Lene Lovich or Soft Cell playfulness and craziness here and there. Everything old is new again with these kids. Arty, weird, and brilliant.

Over the previous two years, KatzKab has proven their efficiency on stage, notably in Paris, Bruxelles or Berlin, thanks to the enthusiasm of Viktor B. and the energy of her bandmates, Klischee at the piano/synth, Mr. Guillotine at the bass guitar, Mr. Monsterhead at the guitar and Mr. Max at the drum.

For Objet N°1, the new formation gives their compositions a more pop, frantic and crazy appeal, mixing perfectly with the electro-punk energy always present in their work. There are enough wickedly witty moods and sonic textures coaxed forth by this talented quintet to give you a quirky, posh & drunk experimental journey.
