CD ReviewsSome Gems 07/15/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "This is a bit of a mixed bag. The real treasures for me are the Mozart items sung by the sublime Maria Cebotari. The other Mozart items are good too. On the debit side, Ljuba Welitsch's vibrato is so heavy in the Puccini items it sounds as if she's singing while riding a bicycle down a cobbled street. Karajan's conducting is excellent through out. This is a historic recording and only recommended for those who have the ear for such things! Five stars for Cebotari, three for everything else."
