CD Reviews

Kind of like a 30's Shirley and Lee

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Seeing as how these come from 78's the sound isn't all too great but nevertheless it's fun music. Kansas City Kitty and Georgia Tom have a bunch of energy and sass. A lot of these songs are just downright catchy like the simple Do it Myself, You Got that Stuff, and Gym's too Much for Me - a funny song which begins with Kansas whining about taking gym classes, then out of nowhere she starts to talk about liquor. Who Kansas City Kitty was is unclear, the linear notes point that out. Georgia Tom later became involved with Mahalia Jackson's career."
